Once again, forest protection champion Liz Walsh has introduced legislation to strengthen Howard County’s current tree protection. The county touts the recently-enacted Forest Conservation Plan as being one of the strongest in the state HOWEVER it still allows for year-over-year tree loss and will still allow dangerous run-off to continue in flood-prone areas like Old Ellicott City.
Walsh’s bill CB-30 increases reforestation requirements, and strengthens some of the glaring gaps in the county’s current Plan.
PDHC will be submitting testimony supporting this important piece of legislation.
